BACK2THEFRESH (AP) According to The Morning Call, a 2 billion dollar master plan was created for a 16-acre swath of the Camden NJ waterfront by architect Robert A.M. Stern. That includes and I quote, “1.7 million square feet of office space in two towers, along with lower-slung buildings including a hotel, 325 housing units, retail and parking garages. Liberty Property Trust hopes to start construction by the fall of 2016 and have it completely built in 2019.” That same article also goes on saying that the Philadelphia 76ers and Subaru North American headquarters will also be relocating to Camden NJ.

I have a friend by the name of William Butler who’s an amazing painter, who has an art gallery just up the street from the waterfront. Barack Obama even autographed one of his paintings. He host an event called, “3rd Thursdays” everything 3rd Thursday of each month. And every time I go there I always walk along the Camden NJ waterfront, because I love watching the Philadelphia skyline. Sometimes I even stop into the Victors Pub to get a bite to eat.

Camden NJ is one of the places that I’ve hovered around ever since my hit and run accident in 2010. And I’ve checked out the business environment. I’ve noticed how there are about 4 colleges and universities in a 6 block radius. Those colleges and universities are Rutgers University, Rowan University, Camden County College, And Cooper University. That area has been dubbed, “The University District”.

I’ve even had the chance to speak with fellow business owner Peter Toso. He’s the owner of Little Slice Of New York Pizzeria at 122 N. 3rd Street. He had some pretty interesting things to say about Camden NJ’s business environment. So that leads me to the question of what happens to the people of Camden NJ when that 2 billion dollar master plan is complete? To me it’s starting to look like a hostile takeover.
